Get curiouser… and curiouser

Curiosity is the secret superpower we all had as kids but somehow misplaced along the way. It fuels leadership by asking, “what if?” instead of settling for, “what is”. It sparks creativity by exploring unexpected ideas, and drives empathy by wondering, “What’s it like to be them?”
Curious people are more innovative and make better decisions because they’re open to different perspectives. Yet, in the busyness of ‘business as usual’, our natural inquisitiveness gets stamped out by deadlines and routine.
Make curiosity a habit; become a fearless explorer and reconnect with the potential you had as a kid!
Try this experiment
Take a daily, 10-minute Curiosity Trip
Block out 10 minutes in your diary every day, to research something random that sparks your curiosity—anything from space exploration to Medieval cooking tips to the best way to tie a tie! A daily workout for your ‘curiosity muscle’ trains your brain to be flexible, and keeps your mind open.
Why this works
Staying curious and open-minded frees us from routine thinking and primes us to make surprising connections (the catalysts for innovation!) Continuous learning builds neuroplasticity, keeping our brains adaptable and sharp. Conversely, when high performers stop learning, they risk getting stuck in a rut (yep, success can throw up high walls!) But learning something new shouldn’t come with pressure to master it. You don’t need to be a finisher-completer – just be a playful starter! Roll around in something new, and your brain will thank you!
