Crack open the Christmas champagne

High achievers are always looking for ways to improve, whilst putting off reasons to celebrate. A shame, because we cheat ourselves if don’t regularly raise a glass to the small wins. Celebrate, and you release dopamine, boosting motivation and reinforcing the habits that brought success.
Try this experiment
Pick up a piece of paper right now, and start jotting down a list of the things you’ve achieved today…this week…this year! See how many things you can list in the next 2 minutes.
When you get home tonight, whip out your MEGA LIST OF ACHIEVEMENTS, and celebrate: you’re here on Planet Earth, hurtling through space and rocking it! Dust off that bottle of kitchen cupboard Cava; open a can of Iron Bru, or unwrap those chocs you’ve been hoarding for a ‘special occasion’. Tonight’s the night… the special occasion is you.
Why it works
There’s nothing more joyless than perfectionism! Cheat your internal reward system, and you’re hurtling towards burnout. You need to celebrate learnings – and small steps forwards – to generate the energy to carry on. Toast the small wins, and serve yourself a regular dollop of motivation.
