Take a scroll down Memory Lane

As December hurtles to an end, take a moment to look back and appreciate the happy times you’ve had this year. When you recall great memories, or focus on what you’re grateful for, your brain gets a hit of dopamine and serotonin—those delightful “feel-good” chemicals that boost mood, motivation, and stress tolerance. This chemical cocktail doesn’t just make you feel great—it improves your focus and creativity, helping you solve problems more easily.

Try this experiment

At the start of your next team meeting, ask everyone to dive into their phone photo galleries. From Jan ’24 onwards, scroll through your pics and vids, revisiting events that made you happy (and that you’re prepared to share!). Spend a few minutes sharing photos and telling the stories behind them. Notice how reconnecting to those magic moments make you all feel.

Why it works

Scrolling through old photos activates the hippocampus (responsible for memory) and amygdala (emotions), reinforcing positive feelings and sparking the brain’s reward system. This works wonders for your resilience, productivity, and teamwork.

When you’re happier, you’re more empathetic and open to collaboration, making it easier to connect with colleagues. So, take a moment to savour the good stuff—your brain (and team) will thank you!
