Doomscrolling

Doomscrolling. We all do it! A quick swipe can send us down an infinite rabbit hole of bad news and impending disaster. But research shows this drip feed of doom can lead to debilitating anxiety, impair focus and lead to poor decision making. Not good for productivity, collaboration (or festive fun!)
Try this experiment
Swap horror for happy endings – and turn off your newsfeeds for the next 24 hours (yes, that includes all the alerts). Instead, warm your heart and lift your spirits with these ‘good news’ feeds we’ve found for you. (Spoiler alert: you may laugh, cry, never peel yourself away back to work again. Especially when you hit the runaway hamster…)
Why this works
No surprises, positive psychology boosts productivity more than negativity does! The depressive side effects of doomscrolling make us think the worst of our fellow humans, blocking our ability to connect and collaborate. Concentrate on good news – and gratitude – to raise your resilience and joy.
Share good news in a group and you amplify the feel-good buzz. Social media company, Buffer, initiated a “Good Vibes” thread for employees to share positive news or encouragement, helping reduce stress and increase positive emotions across the team. What good news could you share with colleagues today?
